The National Water Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2040 was developed and approved; the boundaries of five river basins in the country have been defined, basins plans have been developed and 5 basin departments (organizations) have been established. At the local level, the project built capacities of organizations providing irrigation services throughout the country to farmers. More than 278,000 people benefited from the project. The total project cost amounted to more than US$12 million in grants.
